Caroline Kidd, author of While You Were Sleeping

I’m delighted to launch my first book for children, While You Were Sleeping. The book is inspired by my work with the North Wexford Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NWSPCA) in Gorey, Co. Wexford, with all proceeds from the sale of the book going to the charity to help save more animals at risk. The new book features a familiar cast of cats and dogs, led by long-standing resident cat Tom ‘The Boss’, as they embark upon an unexpected adventure.

Illustrated by graphic designer and fellow animal lover Petra Curtis, While You Were Sleeping is a charming tale of fun, friendship and adventure. Petra brings the story to life through original, full colour, hand drawn illustrations that will engage and enchant children with the world of shelter cats and dogs.

Praise for While You Were Sleeping

‘From the minute Tom’s eye springs open, to the moment he secures the cat cages after a night of adventure, I fell under the spell of this story by Caroline, who understands the very heart of felines, the animals who rule people without a moment’s thought. The great purpose of this book, to raise funds for NWSPCA, is married with a great story that brings us the true world of shelter cats. Adopt one and listen out for the sounds of their Saturday night outside your window. They won’t let you see it, that’s why we needed Caroline Kidd to tell us just what they get up to.’
